Vienna Coffee House Culture Walking Tour
Vienna's coffee house culture is UNESCO-listed Intangible Cultural Heritage, and for good reason. The tradition of sitting for hours with a single Melange (milky coffee) and a newspaper dates from 1683, when Vienna became the first European city with coffee. A local guide visits four historic cafés, Café Central, Café Hawelka, Demel patisserie, explaining the social history over cake and coffee.
What you'll do
- Café Central, Freud's table
- Demel patisserie, imperial confectioner
- Sachertorte at Hotel Sacher
- Vienna coffee terminology explained
- UNESCO coffee house culture context
