Cape Sounion & Temple of Poseidon, Sunset Tour
Cape Sounion is 70 kilometres from Athens at the tip of the Attic Peninsula, and the Temple of Poseidon there, built 440 BC on a 60-metre cliff above the Aegean, is one of the most dramatically sited ancient ruins in Greece. Lord Byron visited in 1810 and carved his name in a column. The sunset from the temple, with the sea turning gold around the headland, is sublime.
